It’s October!! Month of Sanford’s Bike Fest, but also month of breast cancer awareness. So why not combine motorcycles with breast cancer awareness? That is exactly what Sanford’s Ribbon Riders are doing!
About 3 years ago (Spring of 2008), a (back then) small group of 7 women, all passionate about motorcycles and all in some way affected by breast cancer (either personally, through friends of family), formed this non-profit organization to help women and men in Central Florida fighting this awful disease. Another mission of theirs is to promote breast cancer awareness. The group has since grown to more than 30 members.
So what better opportunity to do this in connection with Sanford’s Bike Fest which will take place from October 7th to October 9th, 2011 in Sanford.
Here’s what you can do to help those in need in our community:
Visit Sanford Bike Fest – keep in mind this IS a family friendly event, you don’t need to own a motorcycle to come out and have a good time and best of all, there’s lots of entertainment for free! Look for a bright pink tent down by the waterfront (can’t be hard to miss, it should pop quite nicely), stop by to say hi and buy some of the pink ribbon merchandise you can wear during breast cancer awareness month.
Apart from that Ribbon Riders is hosting the bike shows at Sanford Bikefest to raise money for the Ribbon Riders Breast Cancer Assistance fund providing emergency financial assistance to breast cancer patients in Central Florida. There will be two shows, one on Saturday (10/7), one on Sunday (10/8). $10 per bike gets you in the show.
