If you’re like us, then chances are you love to go on any adventure that includes your fur baby. Last weekend, our little family had the privilege of attending the 8th Annual Pints n’ Paws Craft Beer Festival hosted by Celery City Craft, The West End and Historic Downtown Sanford. Not only did we get to enjoy live music and test over 100 beers from our local favorites, but 100% of the proceeds went to both Dolly’s Foundation and Pet Rescue by Judy, charities that help our four-legged friends.

Upon walking into the festival, we immediately thought, why have we not attended this event the past seven years it’s gone on?! The beautiful brick roads of historic downtown Sanford were closed off to cars in order to create a safe place for people and dogs to walk freely. Charlie (our 2-year-old Maltese Shitzu mix) was absolutely beside himself, immediately out to find any treats and new friends that he could, and to his delight, succeeding at pretty much every tent. Never have I met so many pet-lovers in one place! All out to make sure that both themselves, and their dogs, had the best time.

On the human side of things, we had a blast walking tent to tent trying a multitude of different beers, some old favorites and some new. My personal favorite was from Sanford’s very own Tuffy’s Bottle Shop & Lounge, serving up a tart and refreshing strawberry kiwi beer (one in which I went back for seconds). As for food, we were able to find an area with quite a few food trucks, hosted by Kona Food Truck Luaus, where I ordered a Hawaiian hot dog. DELICIOUS!

After spending the better part of the day walking up and down the beautiful brick roads of downtown, Charlie was wiped out, laying splat down in the shade every chance he got, even if that included under some of the vendors tables (laughed at with adoration from the owners, of course!).

We decided to stop into Luisa’s Cellar, open for dogs and people alike to come in and enjoy a beverage out of the sun and sitting down. That being my first time in there, I have to say both the décor and menu alone were a reason we definitely will be back!

I think that the hundreds of people who attended with their dogs will agree with me when I say that this festival was a hit and we can’t wait to go back next year and see all of our new friends.
