We are a camp that offers breakout times for Bible, Sports, Art, and Fine Arts. Students will also participate in weekly field trips, and be given the opportunity to grow both spiritually and in a variety of skills.

Salvation Army Summer Camp

Salvation Army Summer Camp. 700 W 24th Street. 

A decision regarding summer camp 2020 will be made Thursday May 7th if we get the go ahead

The camp session dates for 2020 will be June 8th – August 6th 2020

Camp this year runs Monday through Friday 8.00am – 6.00pm. The Salvation Army offers a safe environment with fully trained and experienced staff.

Summer Camp enrollment will begin May 11th 2020.

The Salvation Army office is located at 700 West 24th Street in Sanford. You will need to print application online (click here to download application) and fill it out and bring it to our office with payment to reserve child’s spot. You will also need to pay the first full week’s fee for registration (non refundable). Registration will be open to children between the ages of 7-12.

This year we will only be taking 30 children due to social distancing (10  children for each age group 7-8, 9-10 & 11-12)

**PLEASE NOTE IF YOUR CHILD HAS A TEMPERATURE OF 100 OR ABOVE THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE BUILDING. TEMPERATURE WILL BE CHECKED EACH DAY

The cost for the camp will be $75.00 per child, field trip fees are extra. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Camp activities will include:

Sport’s, video games, music, Arts & crafts, Swimming plus much more.

June 22-26, 2020 9am – 2pm (Weekdays) $185 ?Director: Barb Kellar Target Camper Age: Grades 1-5 ?This elementary drama camp introduces your child to theatre basics! They will learn songs and dances from popular shows like Disney’s Frozen Jr., Footloose, Legally Blonde and more! All students get a camp t-shirt. Final showcase performance if Friday June 26 at 2pm. Entrance is $5 cash.

Senior Summer Camp

July 6-24, 2020 9am – 3pm (Weekdays) $385 Director: Jamaal Solomon Target Camper Age: Grades 6-12 Students will work together to produce the popular musical “Mary Poppins Jr!” Students will learn the process all the way through auditions, rehearsals, technical assistance and final performance! All students get a camp shirt. Final show takes place Friday, July 24 at 7:30pm. Admission to the show is $10.

Kids Ceramics Class

When: June 23-25
Time: 9-12pm
Cost: $150 (all supplies included)

Description: Students will learn how to build animals and people using slabs, coils and pinch pots. The class will also explore surface techniques. Sculptures will be fired and will be available for pickup the following week.

Students will be provided with beverages but must bring their own snack.

About the teacher: A self-taught artist, Julie began her career as a painter and muralist. Her love of art and wish to share her talents led her to teach high school art for five years, and later open her own gallery/studio. When Julie is not exhibiting at art fairs or filling gallery orders, she now teaches sculpting workshops for adults and children. She is an accomplished carpenter, handyman, wife, and mom.

Safety precautions: We requires each student to wear a mask. Students will be seated at their own six foot table, located at a safe distance away from others.

Kids Painting Class

When: Jul 7-July 9
Time: 9-1pm
Cost: $150

Julie Latayan delves into color, form and various acrylic painting techniques to teach students how to express themselves in paint. Students will create self portraits and animal portraits on unlikely material (tar paper and plywood). Students will come away with multiple finished pieces ready to don the halls of their own home gallery.

Wild Summer Camp Adventures. Ages 5-17

Fill up your summer with WILD adventures at the Central Florida Zoo! Campers can go behind-the-scenes in Jr. Zoo Keeper, set sail for mysterious islands in Pirates of the ZOOribbean, create their own zoo in Build a Zoo Workshop and discover the “yuk!” side of animal science in Ickyology. These camps, and so many more offer one-of-a-kind and incredibly fun learning adventures.

Campers must be registered for a weeklong full-day camp which runs  9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Each week is designed to offer campers different themes in the morning (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) and afternoon (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm). Campers will enjoy a supervised lunch break from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.

Before Care: 8:00 am – 9:00 am / After Care: 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

General Camp Information

  • Campers must register in their appropriate age group and must be at least the minimum age for the group at the start date of the camp.
  • We encourage campers to experience a variety of camps. Repeating camps are the same.
  • Each camper will receive a confirmation email with instructions for attending zoo camps.
  • Campers will receive a maximum of 2 free t-shirts. Additional T-shirts may be purchased for $10.00 each on the first day of camp.
  • Before and After Care available for individual days. Sign-up is available online or at check-in on the first day of camp.
  • Each camper must bring a water bottle with their name on it.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • Campers can bring their lunch or purchase a Safari lunch. Please pack a snack for both morning and afternoon camp sessions. Lunch boxes can be stored in the classrooms.

Cost Per Child Ages 2-5:

$32 per series – Annual Pass Holders/ $42 per series – Non Pass Holders

$12.00 per class – Annual Pass Holder; $15.00 per class – Non-Pass Holder

Zoo admission is separate and not required to attend. 

Siblings under 2 are free with paid child.

Requirements: 

  • Registered children participating in the program must be two at the start date of the program.
  • One adult per every two children is required.
  • Caregivers are responsible for participating along with the registered child/children.

Photography Camp

4-H Photography Basics

This program is open to youth ages 8-18 interested in learning the basics of photography. This is open to youth in District VIII- Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia Counties.

When- June 3rd through July 22nd, Every Wednesday for 8 weeks

Time- live video instruction at 10 am, if you are unable to make it to the morning session you can watch the recorded 10 am session later that day at 3 pm.

Virtual Platform- Zoom video conferencing

Materials-Internet, laptop or phone to stream video conference, and any type of camera including smart phones.

Program Week by Week

Week 1- Camera functions, focusing, and proper handling

Week 2- Types of photography, writing captions, and critiques

Week 3- Intro to composition, rule of thirds, and framing

Week 4- Low angle and high angle photographs

Week 5- fill the frame and vertical/horizontal photographs

Week 6- Symmetrical/Asymmetrical Balance

Week 7- Leading lines and diagonal lines

Week 8- Careers in photography

Youth will interact with each other through Zoom to positively critique each other’s weekly photography assignments and develop communication skills through caption writing.

After Eventbrite registration, youth not currently active in 4-H will need to create a “short-term member” profile in 4-H Online. Directions on how to do this will be emailed to registered participants prior to June.

Weekly programs will be recorded through Zoom. All participants will need to have photo and voice recording permission granted through 4-H Online prior to June 3, 2020.
