Please Note: Rustic and Pipe Decor has since closed their doors, but we loved getting to know them and still feel they deserve a little spotlight for coming to Sanford.

What do pipes and bananas have in common? Well nothing, unless you’re the owner of Rustic and Pipe decor and are making a banana stand for yours or someone else’s kitchen. This is exactly what Tammy has been doing for the past 2 years for her Etsy shop, but now she’s sharing her talent with us in her store on First Street. Tammy is no stranger to Sanford as she and her husband, who she boasts about giving her the confidence to move into a storefront,  have lived here for the past 5 years…they’re Sanfordites alright!

Tammy started her love for making her own home decor when she dreamed of having barn doors in her bedroom and decided she could make them herself. Not only did she make them herself, but as friends and family saw her talent they began to press her in starting her own business.

In 2016 she did just that, she started selling her handmade decor items such as towel racks, side tables, shelf brackets and so much more. All of which are made to order, making each product as unique as the person that orders it. She offers the same process in her store as she does online, with a wide selection of different pipe and wood stain colors, you choose what your heart desires and share with Tammy what you are in need of, and she makes it happen.

Tammy also found a love in refinishing furniture and has done countless makeovers for others’ furniture and cabinets as well as finding fun pieces for her to recycle and give new life to on her spare time…which can now be seen in her shop. Tammy’s store is also filled with unique items from other vendors, she wanted a place that offered a variety of fun items that would please anyone that walked into her shop.

While I walked around I found the softest and most adorable puppy slippers, furniture from Indonesia, handmade jewelry, 70s vintage vases, handmade bath taffy and of course I got to see some of Tammy’s unique creations.

A store filled with unique items is not the only reason to step inside Rustic and Pipe Decor, if you love crafts then you’ll surely enjoy one of the many classes and workshops that Tammy is offering. The next classes to be held will be Framed or Planked Wood Sign Classes, but she’s ready to dive into the community, so be sure to follow her Facebook page so that you can stay on top of all of the fun things she’ll be offering in her store like her fall pumpkin decorating class and a day where kids can come in and shop for Mom and Dad for Christmas.

So whether you’re planning to head downtown or you just found a reason to go, be sure to stop in, welcome Tammy and shop a little while the kids hang out at the kids table and Tammy treats you to coffee and a sweet treat.
