Inaugural Asian Lantern Festival Coming to the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens
SANFORD, Fla., October 3, 2019—Tickets will go on sale for the Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, Tuesday, October 8, at 10:08 AM. The number 8 (pronounced “Ba” in Chinese) has a similar pronunciation with ?, the symbol for wealth or fortune (pronounced “Fa” in Chinese), and is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture.
The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will transform into an evening wonderland of lights during the Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild starting in November.
This limited engagement cultural event will dazzle guests with over 30 larger-than-life sculptural LED lantern displays featuring plants, animals, and traditional Asian elements, including a nearly 200-foot-long dragon.
“This festival perfectly integrates cultural traditions of China with the animals and gardens found at the Zoo.” said Dino Ferri, Zoo CEO. “The Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild is an exceptionally unique event that will bring people together from throughout Central Florida and well beyond.”
The inaugural Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will feature over 30 elaborate, hand-made lanterns, including a 200-foot dragon, which illuminate from within. This event, in partnership with Chinese Lantern & Dragon Lights Festival company
Tianyu Arts and Culture, Inc., will include authentic Chinese crafts and artisans. Food trucks will be onsite nightly.
Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild, will run Wednesday through Sunday evenings from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, November through January (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas). This is a separately ticketed event and is not included with regular Zoo admission.
Tickets will be available for purchase online only; tickets will not be available in-person. General admission will be $18.50 per person. A special four pack of tickets is being offered for $50.00. Zoo Annual Pass Holders receive a discounted price of $15.50 per person. Tickets must be purchased for a specific date and will only be valid for admission on the date listed on the ticket.
