Very fitting for the general mood after a full day rain (and it continues!) I drove by the Sylvan Lake Cemetery today on my way from the house to the office. Funny, but this is the first time I noticed this little cemetery off Wayside Drive. It must have been the gloomy weather that made me more aware of it. Well, I stopped and took my daily picture.
All I could find out about this cemetery in Sanford is that it is 120 years old. If you know more about it, feel free to post your info here!
My Great grand daddy and his wife are buried there ! I used to live in Sanford growing up and moved up here to Tallahassee in 1989! We used to go to the cemetery all the time! Pls feel free to contact me I can try to tell you anything I know or my family knows! Thank you
My Mother is buried at Sylvan Lake Cemetery. She passed away in August 2010. Recently on a visit to replace flowers, we noticed a sign that has never been there before. The sign states “cemetery rules”…as in No rocks, pipes, coping. Do you know anything about this and when did this happen? My mother’s grave has beautiful coping and is well maintained. I would like to know who to contact regarding the ‘rules’ and what is the status of the existing graves.
Any help would be appreciated.
