What is National Night Out?

Once upon a time, we kept our porch lights on. We opened the door even if we didn’t know who rang the bell. And we could always leave the back door unlocked during the day.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. Together, we are making that happen. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

For those who have participated before, and to new participants, I am looking forward to another successful National Night Out. National Night Out is on Tuesday October 6, 2015 from 5-8 pm @ Fort Mellon Park located at 700 E.1st Street, Sanford Florida. This event is sponsored by the Sanford Police Department and Sanford Super Target. This is a free event for the community and items cannot be sold. Registration is free, the only thing we ask is that you provide a giveaway or an activity for an adult or child.

Please arrive any time after 3 pm and have your table ready no later than 5 pm. Space is first come first serve and if you have a pop up tent I recommend you bringing it. If you joined us last year it’s the same set up with Police and Fire vehicles on display in the middle of the field. If you are a vendor that needs electricity for your booth please set up on the Seminole Blvd side of the field. You will need to bring a heavy duty 100 ft. extension cord. Designated vendor parking is at the Chamber of Commerce/Sanford Civic Center (intersection of 1st and Sanford Avenue) and we ask you to move your vehicle there prior to 5 pm. I am your host for the night along with Gary Huerta from Target. Please let us know if you need help with anything. My cell # is 321-262-1778.
