Planetarium Show: Into the West: Astronomical Origins of Halloween
When: Saturday October 28th, 7 PM
Where: 100 Weldon Blvd. Sanford, Florida 32773
What: “Into The West” conjures up the history of Halloween from its beginnings five millennia ago in what is now Great Britain. This show examines the Britons and the Celts, two groups of ancient peoples who laid the foundation for the modern-day Halloween celebration. The Gaelic festival of Samhain celebrated the end of the harvest season, and from this most important time came the origins of trick-or-treating, the carving of pumpkins and ghostly lore — all inspired by a small, famous cluster of stars in the constellation Taurus known as the Pleiades. Be swept away in our journey ”Into The West.”
Most appropriate for ages nine and up.
Admission: $6 adults, $4 students and seniors (55+), free for Seminole State students, faculty, and staff with ID
