It’s been a long time coming – now I can finally say, I went #sanfording Sanford style – on a golf cart!! In fact, I had never driven a golf cart before, so that’s another first I was excited about! What made riding a golf cart through the historic district so much more special though was that this is truly a fun way to explore all there is to discover “al fresco” while also interacting with the other passengers (my friends).
While I love biking and think this would also be a wonderful way to get to know the cobblestone streets of our beautiful town, I think the social factor of a golf cart makes it even more enjoyable. We were able to chat all the way – and when I get together with my ladies there’s always TONS to talk (even more this time as I was playing tour guide showing off Historic Downtown Sanford’s natural beauty and all it has to offer!
Most of my friends had never been to the residential district before so they were amazed by all the gorgeous historic homes – and of course all this scenery is even more spectacular when the homes are all decked out for the holidays like this past weekend during Light Up Sanford (side note: there’s still enough time to see those gorgeous historic Holiday Homes! Lights will be up for at least another week past Christmas so take this opportunity to extend the holiday cheer!). By renting a golf cart we were also able to cover a bigger section of town (something we could have never accomplished in one evening, and even less with 4 kids).
And that brings me to the next point: golf carts are kids friendly! The kids had an absolute blast! We were able to stop frequently and they had some fun at the park while we sipped our warm beverages (in style for winter time). Moreover, since Sanford is now a quite established golf cart community, people are very used to and accepting of golf carts. Not once did we have an impatient (car) driver behind us or felt unsafe.
If anywhere in Central Florida is the perfect place to drive a golf cart, it’s Sanford! Give it a try and you’ll see! Spend a few hours exploring town, from the waterfront to historic Downtown to the residential historic district, and into the less known but equally beautiful neighborhoods around the historic district, including Sanford Heights, Mayfair, historic Georgetown, historic Goldsboro (America’s second oldest black neighborhood), San Lanta and of course Bel Air and beyond where you’ll discover plenty of mid century gems including the iconic Paulucci Estate.
Sanford is known for its historic charm, beautiful waterfront, trendy breweries and bars, amazing restaurants – and golf carts!! Yes, that’s a thing here in town, and trust me, you will want to explore Sanford that way – it’s so worth it! So grab a few friends (these golf carts fit 4 adults comfortably, and you can always squeeze in a child or two!) and rent your Sanford golf cart today – then prepare to go #sanfording like you never did before!
