Today we went for a quick unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks lunch at one of my favorite chain restaurants in Sanford – Olive Garden.
When I first came to the US, the first Italian restaurant I ever ate at was Olive Garden (that was in Paducah, KY). Back then I had no idea that there were hundreds if not thousands of Olive Gardens in the US. Coming from Europe I wasn’t too familiar with the restaurant franchise systems of the US (other than the occasional Mc Donalds, there aren’t too many chain restaurants in Germany…). Anyway, I loved the food right away and have since tried many different Italian food chain restaurants, including Romano’s Macaroni Grill and Carrabas. My favorite though (also atmosphere and decoration wise) is still Olive Garden – and boy, are their commercials mouth watering (but cheesy in a not literal way…)? Olive Garden also comes closest to the Tuscan style dining that I have experienced in Italy (though, of course, completely exaggerated here).
