For the past 2 years I have worked alongside Claudia for her blog Sanford365 and in the process I have received countless opportunities to meet, chat and promote the small businesses in Downtown Sanford for Sanford365 – and I LOVE everything about it.

Never in a million years would I have thought little ol’ shy me would have the chance to chat it up with such amazing people and learn the importance of supporting local as well as becoming a business owner myself.

I think people look at business owners and think “wow that’s such a cool job”, but what they don’t know or see is the 60+ hour week weeks that go into owning and running a business, it’s tough folks. You are your own boss there is no running to the Big Boss Man/Woman for questions because that person is you, you have figure out your own problems and come up with a solution. You must also market your business, satisfy your clients, keep things fresh and exciting, be the accountant, answer emails, answer the phone, set up appointments, follow up with potential clients,  order merchandise, the list goes on and on.

The point here is that yes, owning your own business is fun, but it also takes a lot to keep it going.

A small business may not have the means to hire staff for each of those listed jobs therefore when you shop local it just means that much more. When you shop local you are supporting a family or maybe even a lifelong dream.

For these reasons, and so many more, I’ve created a fun photoshoot to help support and get the word out about supporting your local businesses. This is America, where “DREAMS COME TRUE” – let’s help make those dreams come true and show our local small businesses some serious LOVE!

On Monday May 15th, 2017, join me and all those who would like to participate in this fun way to support small businesses!

Event Details:

Wanna play dress up and support your local businesses at the same time ?! As a small business I know the importance of marketing and connecting with others, but it’s not easy! I think it takes all of us coming together to create unity, support and guidance. So, let’s do just that in a fun and unique way.

I have a vision, but need your help.

Imagine 1st street filled with locals that support and love our small business community, now envision them all in 20s, 30s or 40s attire carrying signs and protesting that we support local and now picture that in…well, in a picture. I want to capture your love for our small businesses in this unique and fun way, but I need your help.

Sumalee will assist in making sure everyone dresses the part, we aren’t 100% sure on the attire, but know it should be as though we are taking a step back in time. If this is something you are interested in let’s come together and make it happen and shine some light on the shops, restaurants, bars, breweries, etc. that we all know and love!

We’ll be meeting at the clock tower in Magnolia Square on 1st Street in Downtown Sanford Monday May 15th at 6:00pm and shoot until 7:45pm

Get creative and make a sign to show your love for shopping local!

Your sign can read something witty that you come up with or something as simple as…

“You can’t buy love but you can buy local”

“Support your local businesses and shop local”

“Shop local. eat local. spend local. enjoy local. it takes you to
start the trend”

“support the local businesses who support the area where you live, work and play”

“Love where you live and shop local”

“Be local. Buy Local”

Please keep it happy and uplifting, encouraging others to shop local is our goal.

What to wear:

Downtown Sanford is known for its history so I thought it would be fun to have everyone dress up in vintage attire. Have fun with it!

Sumalee wrote up a great post on “How to dress vintage for a photoshoot” Check it out here.

For all of you who joined us for our Kentucky Derby Event you already have the perfect attire so come on out and join us again!
