Ever feel like you were born in the wrong era?

It’s always been that way for me, and I have always related much better to music and fashion of decades gone by, especially the 1950s and 60s. Needless to day, it was a total treat to attend All Shook Up at WDPAC, an Elvis inspired full length musical, weaving the legend’s discography into a wacky story based on the plot of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. In all seriousness, who doesn’t like Elvis?

The story focused on Natalie, the daughter of a small town mechanic, who cross-dresses and plots her way into the heart of Chad, a hip swinging, vowel-chewing roustabout in a leather jacket. I’m always very impressed with the theater’s ability to attract incredible voices and great actors to their musicals, and this was no exception. The audience swayed back and forth and even sang along to many of Elvis’ greatest hits while the story unfolded. The production really showcased the best things about community theater, and I was grateful to be along for the ride!
