Alive After Five Sanford March 2014

One of the most popular Alive After 5 street parties is without a doubt “It’s a Green Thing”, the annual St. Patrick’s Day themed event. I love seeing a flood of green slowly moving up and down first street while listening to Irish folk music. Even though it was expected to be quite chilly (for Florida standards of course), it was actually sunny and spring like while the sun was out.

The kids had a blast at the bounce house in the kids zone next to the Welcome Center while we enjoyed a beer with friends watching them play. I love this new Kids Zone concept because finally there’s something to keep the little ones happy for a while. Also new this time was the rock climbing wall on Park Avenue! Kids ages 4 and up (and with a minimum of 45lbs) can climb up the wall for free! They will also be there at next month’s event on April 10, 2014 with the new theme: Pirate Fest!

A word about St. Patrick’s Day events in Sanford: As of now I am not aware of any bigger special events going on St. Patrick’s Day weekend or St. Patrick’s Day. I know several bars have their own drink specials and it certainly won’t hurt to dress green (I know, I will…). The Corner Cafe offers a 4-course dinner themed “A Taste of Ireland” on 3/14 and 3/15 at 6pm and 8pm. Click here for the flyer. It really is a great deal!

Then there’s also the St. Patrick’s Day Party at the Winey Wench in the Mall.

Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe will actually be OPEN on Monday, 3/17 for St. Patrick’s Day so if you are not set on Irish beer I can highly recommend you German beer and entertainment 😉

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all in case I don’t get to post until then 🙂
